‘Unique & sustainable flair’

“The interiors for the second Tuk Tuk site in Edinburgh took inspiration from the vibrant architecture and food found across India. S+Co looked to create a space that was welcoming and fun; a playful reflection of Tuk Tuk's Indian street food and the diverse neighbourhood of their new location”, explains Claire Jones, Senior Interior Designer at S+Co.

Embracing the existing details and ornaments found at the site, S+Co layered rustic materials with bold splashes of colour to create a lively interior. Adding a unique and sustainable flair to the interior, the K-BRIQ® has been used to create a statement bar front, a focal point for diners. A combination of a speciality frogged brick and solid bricks in a colourful mix of magenta and mustard make up the unique jewel-like design, which stores just over half a tonne of recycled construction and demolition waste.

“The world needs to move rapidly towards a more sustainable future and the hospitality sector can take a leading role in this. At Tuk Tuk, we have thought deeply about how to make our restaurants more environmentally conscious as well as visually appealing for our guests by including design features that can contribute to the UK’s net zero strategy.”
