‘Dogstar is a restaurant so beautiful even its loos look like an art installation’ (The Observer)
Newly opened Scottish restaurant, Dogstar, from Michelin-starred chef James Murray in Edinburgh’s Leith is bringing its signature sustainability approach to the fore with Kenoteq’s cut-face terrazzo K-SLIPs adorning bar flooring together with the restroom walls.
Dogstar Restaurant was born from the idea of creating a new focal point of celebration for the community, by the community.
With this in mind, throughout the fit-out process, it was important to the owners that all materials came from either a Scottish company or local supply chain; ideally both. It made perfect sense to the owners to collaborate with Kenoteq, who are a Scottish company that manufacture their products just down the road in East Lothian and use recycled materials from the locale to make their beautiful products: in particular their upcoming terrazzo-finish K-SLIP which shows the recycled materials in delicious contrast.
The products adopted really tell the story of communal sustainability and re-use of old building materials within an area. This all bolsters the ethos of Dogstar supporting the community, working with sustainable produce and products, and providing a truly memorable experience for all their customers.
