‘a true circular economy garden-award-winning RHS show garden redesigned and replanted in NHS hospital setting’

The Subaru Cocoon Garden, first unveiled at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2025, is set to be permanently relocated to Horatio’s Garden Salisbury — an amazing UK charity that designs therapeutic landscapes within NHS spinal injury centres.

The project designed by Mike McMahon Studios aims to transform an overlooked section of the hospital courtyard into a lush, temperate rainforest-inspired retreat that promotes recovery and wellbeing. The redesigned scheme reinterprets the original Hampton Court concept, with all K-BRIQ brickwork re-imagined as staggered, fluted planters that bring texture and rhythm to the space.

The original Subaru Cocoon Garden swept the board of awards at the RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival and was also featured on BBC’s Gardeners’ World.

The showgarden highlighted the quiet crisis of how Britain’s rainforests have been vanishing for centuries. Once covering 20% of the UK, today there is only 1% remaining and temperate rainforests are now one of the UK’s most fragile and overlooked ecosystems.

Check back in Spring 2026 to see the complete garden in all its bloom.
