Sustainability focus for a campus focused on future industries
A new 3-storey Hub has completed in early 2026 at Stoke-on-Trent College’s Burslem campus, incorporating 85m2 of plinthwork in the Medero Dark Grey K-BRIQ.
Delivered to BREEAM standards, the scheme incorporated sustainable materials and methods with the project achieving exceptionally low carbon emissions, assisted by the use of the K-BRIQ over traditional high carbon masonry alternatives.
Part of a wider capital investment programme across the college, the Burslem campus (specialising in areas like construction, engineering and media) is being transformed into a technical and vocational centre with a strong focus on future industries, especially:
green technologies
advanced construction
digital/engineering skills
The lead contractor, Krol Corlett, delivered a series of toolbox talks to construction trainees within the college, and they were involved in gaining valuable on-site experience during the masonry package.
