K-BRIQ used as part of acclaimed land restoration and conservation project at Wendling Beck, Norfolk

The steel frame is up and the K-BRIQ brickwork is almost complete with the hemp insulation installed and timber frame at the ready in this remarkable environmental project … Nature’s Corner Cafe and Farmshop is located within The Wendling Beck Project, located to the north of Dereham in Norfolk, UK. The project brings together landowners, conservation organisations, researchers, and investors to collaboratively design and implement a nature-positive land management model. Community engagement plays a crucial role in the project’s success, with local stakeholders, farmers, and policymakers actively involved in shaping the future of the landscape.

Nature’s Corner will be the main commercial hub and a key access point into the Wendling Beck, one of the most ambitious nature recovery projects in England. It will act as the project’s public face and the point where the local community and day visitors can come together to engage and learn. Juliet Moore Architects have designed a bright and inspiring cafe and farm shop using a wide range of sustainable building materials, including the recycled K-BRIQ, mycelium and hemp for construction materials and furniture. The K-BRIQ forms a deep plinth with semi-circular detailing and K-SLIPs will form the flooring in rich burnt orange tones.

All of this is topped with a glass house, under which visitors can enjoy the best of locally available products and buy local produce from the farm shop, all whilst learning more about landscape recovery and its impact locally.

The produce available will be from the Wendling Beck Market Gardens, a certified organic enterprise. The café and bakery will be run by an amazing chef/baker, Wild Things Food who focus on organic and foraged ingredients and cook on charcoal.

Nature’s Corner is expected to open in November 2026.
