K-BRIQ contributes to BREEAM “Very Good” rating at Stoke-on-Trent College
A new 3-storey Hub has completed in early 2026 at Stoke-on-Trent College’s Burslem campus, incorporating 85m2 of plinthwork in the Medero Dark Grey K-BRIQ, contributing to the building achieving a BREEAM “Very Good” rating.
The scheme incorporated sustainable materials and methods with the project achieving exceptionally low carbon emissions, assisted by the use of the circular, low carbon K-BRIQ over traditional high carbon masonry alternatives. In fact, using the K-BRIQ over traditional fire bricks saved the project nearly 5 tonnes of carbon emissions, the equivalent energy saving as around 1 year’s energy use for an average UK household.
What’s more, the K-BRIQs recycled over 10 tonnes of construction and demolition waste in their manufacture, helping to reduce the UK’s waste pile.
